Grow Your Own Wings – A one of a kind piece.
This elegant bird cage has been handmade in our studio at the old Blacker’s Mill, in Northern Ireland. It has been created from an antique book, hand turned wire and completed with a hand carved wooden figure. She has made her own little wings now and is ready to soar.
I had finished this piece and dropped it hard. Her little leg had broken off but she looked so perfect. I didn’t want to discard her, so after a rusty screw leg was added, she regained her balance and somehow looked more beautiful than she did before.
The cage stands approx. 36cm tall, 23cm length and 16cm wide.
